I think any hip-hop-head would agree with me that we’re due for a “Flava In Ya Ear” Re-remix.
And why now? Why would it be right to make another remix of “Flava In Ya Ear”? Because next year, in 2015, will be 20-years since the 1995 remix. If you remember, the ’95 song had Biggie Smalls, Rampage, LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes.
But in 1994, the original “Flava In Ya Ear” was by only one rapper — Craig Mack. Mack was also in the remix.
P-Diddy did make somewhat of a remake of the video in 2002 called “Special Delivery” (the remix) but it wasn’t the same song.
We need the re-remix of the Craig Mack beat, with big names in the video.
So if were handed the power of making this video, and naming the rappers for it, these are the people I would pick — the photo you see on the left. I know…they might cost me a lot.
If I’m gonna make a re-remix of “Flava In Ya Ear”, you gotta have Jay-Z and Kanye West in it. That’s a must.
Then, the names may get a little too big…or too costly. I would have Eminem — which might be too much when Jay and West are already in it, but this is a big remix. Gotta have the best in a video this big.
After that, I would add Nicki Minaj. Add a female rapper to mix it up; and also Minaj would bring that New York City aggressive, in-your-face, style and vocals that’s needed for a song like this. She would be perfect for this beat. Minaj’s vocals and this beat, matches perfectly.
Then you gotta add Drake. Drake is the top rapper for the new age of rappers.
Then the final pieces would be Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean and J.Cole.
Ever since the “Flava In Ya Ear” remix, we’ve seen a bevy of rappers come together and make a song. Hits like “Forever”, “Clique, “Swagga Like Us”. So it’s become nothing special anymore like it was back then. But bringing back the same Craig Mack beat, would make it special.
I hope P-Diddy — who was the promoter for the original remix — makes it happen. And of course, he would also have to be part of the re-remix.
